For the first time in its 42-year history, The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen has awarded the title of “Principal Guest Conductor”. From February 2022, the young Finn Tarmo Peltokoski will be the first to hold this position.

For the orchestra members and Managing Director Albert Schmitt, it was a logical step to welcome the Finnish multi-talent into the Kammerphilharmonie family after his acclaimed German debut in June 2021 at the „Glocke“ concert hall in Bremen, followed by further musical activities. „We took advantage of the exceptional pandemic situation to do unusual things, such as giving a 21-year-old young artist the opportunity to introduce himself as a conductor. The experience was simply overwhelming and it was clear we absolutely had to engage him.“

Paavo Järvi, Artistic Director of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen since 2004, is delighted with the addition. „I have met Tarmo, am impressed by his talent and am very much looking forward to a lively exchange with him in the coming years,“ Järvi said. For Peltokoski, who has long admired The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie and greatly appreciates the exceptional skill, curiosity and attention to detail of each orchestra member, a long-held wish is coming true. „Deep love and respect binds me to The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. The greatest moments of music making I have experienced have been with them, and I am indescribably grateful, honoured and blessed to have been granted this title“, Peltokoski said.
